24 Live Florida Blue Crabs
1/3 cup of salt*

Place live crabs in 6 quarts of boiling, salted water; cover and return to the boiling
point. Reduce heat; simmer for 12-15 minutes. Drain: rinse in cold water. Serve hot
or could. Yield: 6 servings

*If desired, add a commercial crab boil seasoning packet to the boiling water; adjust salt
according to package directions.

Festive Crab Spread

  • 1 pound Florida Blue Crab Meat (fresh, frozen or pasteurized)
  • 2 8-ounce packages cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 2 tablespoons Worcetershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onions
  • 2 tablespoons toasted slivered almonds assorted crackers

Thaw crab meat if frozen. Remove any remaining pieces of shell or cartilage. In
mixing bowl combine cream cheese, milk and Worcetershire sauce. Add crab meat
and onions; blend well. Pour mixture into an 8-inch round microwave-safe dish. Top
with toasted almonds. Cook in microwave on high for 2 minutes or until hot enough
to serve. Serve warm with crackers. Yield: approximately 4 cups, enough for 30
